We bring people into realistic virtual versions of the city and measure how their bodies and behavior respond, in the lab and on real streets.

01Immersive simulators

One virtual city, on foot, by bike, and behind the wheel

Participants share immersive virtual streets where we control traffic, design, and events, and can safely study situations that would be dangerous in the real world.

  • Bicycle simulatorAn instrumented bicycle in virtual reality.
  • Pedestrian simulatorImmersive walking and street crossing.
  • VR driving simulatorDriving in the same virtual city.
  • Multi-agentDrivers, cyclists, and pedestrians in one shared street, in real time.

02Quarter-cab driving simulator

A dedicated simulator for driving research

Alongside VR driving in our virtual city, a standalone FAAC RDS-1000 quarter-cab simulator, with real vehicle controls, supports studies of driver behavior and human-automation interaction.

The power behind the simulations

Dell workstation towers with dedicated GPUs run our immersive simulations and support data processing and machine learning on multimodal data.

  • GPU workstationsDell towers for real-time VR rendering.
  • Data processingSynchronizing and cleaning multimodal sensor streams.
  • Machine learningModeling human states from physiological and behavioral data.
