Meet the

Facilities

At Human Centered Cities Lab, we have access to and built state-of-the-art equipment for human sensing, and transportation simulation and experimentation.

Driving Simulator

Our state-of-the-art driving simulator enables comprehensive experimentation across automated, semi-automated, and manual driving conditions. By integrating this advanced simulator with human sensing devices such as smart wearables, brain activity monitors, and eye trackers, we gain deep insights into the underlying reasons behind various driving behaviors. This synergy of cutting-edge technology and human-centered research allows us to explore and understand the complexities of driving behavior like never before.

Bicycle Simulator in VR

By integrating virtual reality environments with physical bicycle conditions, we provide cyclists with a highly realistic experience. This setup allows us to closely study their behavior under various traffic conditions and interactions with other road users, including automated vehicles. Our immersive approach enables us to gain valuable insights into cyclist behavior, enhancing our understanding of safety and dynamics on the road.

Pedestrian Simulator in VR

An integrated pedestrian simulator within our VR environment, coupled with the bike simulator, allows us to comprehensively understand pedestrian behavior under various contextual conditions. This setup enables us to study their interactions with other road users, especially vehicles, providing valuable insights into pedestrian dynamics and safety in diverse traffic scenarios.
